The Domain of Flavius Heraclius
Okay, so my name isn't really Heraclius. I recently started getting into the wonderful world of personal websites, and realized that a lot of the ideas I wanted to play with were a bit at odds with the more professional presentation of my main website. The answer was obvious: just make a second one. And so I am dusting off an old pseudonym from my high school gamer days and standing up this site.
Don't expect anything too spicy--this isn't a full-blown anonymous site or anything. Just an attempt to put a little separation between my personal and professional life. I expect you can figure out who I "really" am pretty easily if you put your mind to it; I haven't done anything to cover my tracks beyond not mentioning my real name on this site.
There's not a lot here just yet. You can find a few pages of my thoughts about various topics in my ramblings about technology and media. In keeping with apparent convention, you can also read about the software and tools that I use on a daily basis. If you want to get in touch to discuss something you see here further, I'm pretty approachable. My contact page has the details. You can also find links to other websites that I find interesting.
About this Site
This site was written directly in pure
HTML using notepad vim helix, leveraging the C
preprocessor to insert boilerplate/common elements into the
documents (for headers and such). It is fairly simple,
and should have broad accessibility across any number of
browsers. While I can't promise that it will be a perfect experience
in mothra, I'm hoping it will at
least be functional in whatever oddball browser you throw at it.
Nota bene: I haven't implemented much in the way of mobile
compatibility just yet. It should "work", but it might not be
pretty.
This site does use Plausible Analytics, which requires Javascript. It's very unintrusive, and I find the data quite useful, but if you'd rather not be tracked feel free to disable Javascript for this site. The analytics script is the only JS I'm using, so your usage of the site should be completely unaffected.
The website itself is hosted on an OpenBSD server running httpd.
